Fire in the rain: a field guide

Wet country still burns if you look in the right place. Dead wood still on the tree, the dry side of a fallen log, birch bark, and the small stuff you kept in a pocket.

Build it small, shield it, feed it, and put it out until the ashes are cold. A fire that is warm when we ride away is a fire we did not finish.
